New to the topic: Blaster modding and tuning

Have you just come across the idea of tuning and modding dartblasters for the first time? And you don't really know what it is? Then take a look at our Instructions & tips section. Here you will find illustrated instructions for converting dartblasters and also a Blaster ABC, which explains the most important terms relating to blasters and blaster conversion, tuning and modding.

Dartblaster tuning - what else is possible?

Tuning a dartblaster primarily means improving its performance. This is expressed in how powerfully the dart leaves the blaster and how far and accurately it flies. The shooting distance is called the range. Increasing the frequency with which darts fly out of the blaster is also a form of blaster tuning. By tuning individual parts of the blaster's inner workings, it is possible to achieve an enormous increase in the performance of standard blasters.

It is important to know which mechanics the blaster is equipped with. Spring blasters that work by compressing a spring are very common and can be tuned relatively easily by installing a suitable, stronger compression spring.

Another common type of dart blaster is the so-called flywheel blaster: these are electrically powered and the darts are transported out of the blaster by motorized flywheels (Flywheels). Tuning is a little more complex here, as you can replace the motors and flywheels, as well as the cage, but sometimes you also have to short-circuit thermistors. However, you can also achieve higher performance with a voltage mod. Only a set of powerful Li-ion batteries and Dummy batteries are used here. More information can be found here on Installing a voltage mod.

There are, of course, legal limits to the power of a dart, which is measured in joules. This should not be exceeded, or you should at least be aware of when the blaster ceases to be a toy.

What is modding? And what do I need to bear in mind?

Modding is anything that visually enhances a dart blaster without improving its function. This can be, for example, an entire bodykit that makes the dartblaster look like an AK-47 or an MP-5. But also add-on parts such as shoulder rests, aiming sights, barrel extensions, other magazines or grips are modding parts for dartblasters. And then there are paints and modeling clay to decorate and paint the blaster yourself. It is important to note that an optically modded blaster that is still painted can look very real and nobody wants to suddenly have the police in their living room. So be careful where and when you unpack such blasters! At a LARP, for example, everyone knows about it and you can safely carry your deceptively real shotgun blaster around.

This may all sound complicated at first, but customizing and modifying dart blasters is simply a lot of fun and a real hobby where there is always something new to try out. Ultimately, tuning and modding NERF blasters and other dart blasters is at the heart of Blasterparts and we are constantly developing new attachments and tuning sets for new blasters, so it never gets boring.
