X-Shot – Vigilante

The new X-Shot series in white convinces by good quality, excellent performance and low prices. Today reviewed: the Vigilante!

The Vigilante, fun break barrel pumpgun for the occasinal hunt.

Unboxing

The Vigilante comes fully assembled with twelve darts in a display box. Since the Blaster is only a two-shot frontloader, twelve darts are a really generous amount.

Handling

The Blaster comes with a collapsible shoulder support and eight dart holders. The shoulder support could be more stable at the connection point to the Blaster, but is still usable. Loading is done by pressing the orange hammer above the trigger. This unlocks the front barrel and allows the blue area to be bent. Under the front there are two short dart mounts which are shot alternating. Once the darts have been loaded, the front can be flipped back up again. The blaster is primed via the pump handle. It doesn’t matter if the Blaster is first loaded with darts or if you prime it first. Depending on the design, you can open the Blaster very well, equip it with darts and then let it snap shut with one hand.

Performance

The performance of the Vigilante really amazed me! It averaged 86 fps on my measurement, but the really amazing thing was the scatter. I had no measurement below 85 fps or above 87 fps. I’ve never had such a consistent blaster! Also in the precision test I had 50% hits when shooting the A4 sized opening of the Moggihbox from five meters distance. This is the kind of performance I’m used to when it comes to ball blasters or modded blasters.

Internals

The Blaster is easy to open. One longer screw in each joint of barrel and shoulder stock and one shorter screw at the corner of the bar in front of the trigger. All remaining screws are of the same size. The plunger is comparable in size to a retaliator. But what’s special is the component that lives where Nerfs have a Smart Air Restrictor.

The plunger tube of the Vigilante has two air outlets. During each clamping operation a plate is moved which alternately closes one outlet and opens the other one. This works very well, even with more power, but has the disadvantage that if only one of the two barrels is loaded, it is possible to fire an empty shot before the dart is actually fired.

Personal Impression

The Vigilante is not necessarily the best blaster for sports use because of the way it is operated, but the performance, accuracy and stylish use make this blaster a wonderful addition to your arsenal. And for Larp or Cosplay the Blaster is of course perfect!
