The author’s 10 favourite Blasters

Blasterparts blogger SirScorp  reveals which ten blaster he likes best and why!

10. Nerf Rapid Fire AS-20

On position 10 I want to start with a classic, which unfortunately is very hard to come by nowadays. The Nerf Rapid Fire AS-20 came with a 20 shot drum and a pressure tank with a spring in front of it. Nerf’s rapid Fire AS-20 is to be equipped with darts, pressure pumped up and a pull of the trigger will absolutely swarm your target with darts. This blasters sends it’s darts flying in a matter of a few seconds. Each shot will turn the blaster’s drum by one chamber. This blaster is on my list because it is incredible fun! The noise this monster makes is not to be compared with modern day blasters, it’s tearing through it’s drum in absolutely no time at all and makes a terrifying noise doing so. People who never encountered a blaster like that can outright be left shell shocked.

9. Buzzbee Rail Raider

Buzzbee’s Rail Raider is unique. This pump action blaster is loaded from behind through a flap into a tube magazine. Extremely stylish and excellent for larp and cosplay. Unfortunately the Rail Raider tends to jam depending on the darts, which makes the system too unreliable for competitions.

8. Nerf Mega Thunderhawk

Nerf’s Mega Thunderhawk is the heaviest blaster I have had my hands on for a long time. I can’t tell exactly what this blaster has about it making me so enthusiastic, especially as I’m not really a big fan of blaster with clips. This blaster just feels amazing once you hold it in your hands.
The extendable front is a funny feature that I like to play with. This blaster is big – big enough even to fit in big hands which makes it even better for adults.

7. BuzzBee Ultra Tek – Master Tek

BuzzBee’s Ultra Tek Master Tek the Range Master’s direct successor. Its predecessor, the Range Master, is a very interesting blaster as well, as it is powered by air pressure built by pumping the bolt. This limited the Blaster to a single shot. The new Master Tek is spring-loaded and utilizes magazines, the perfect combination of ease of use and bolt action fun. On top of that it’s really fun to load the blaster using the bolt. the Master Tek’s performance is top notch as well! It’s only the appearance of the blaster which needs some getting used to.

6. Nerf Jolt

I like the Nerf Jolt for several reasons. On one hand the super compact blaster is better than you might expect, on the other hand it fits in every bag and can be used everywhere. For example, my wife always has a Jolt in her handbag! Jolts are inexpensive and super easy to use. I have a whole bag full for bachelor parties and celebrations. They’re so tiny, you can take them anywhere! Anyone can use a Jolt and it’s tons of fun to dart tag with friends, relatives or colleagues. There are many variations of the Jolt in many different colors and shells, so everyone can have their favorite. Especially the new Micro Shot Line, Jolts in miniature versions of old Nerf blasters, really appealed me personally.

5. Zuru X-Shot Turbo Advance

Zuru’s X-Shot Turbo Advance has everything I want from a blaster: decent power, huge ammunition capacity and pump action. The 40-darts drum is sufficient for many game modes. You don’t even need to reloading during the round, and pump action is the most reliable and therefore best mechanic a blaster can have, in my opinion. In addition, the blaster comes with a large amount of darts, at a comparatively low price.
The only reason it’s not higher up in the list is because it lacks a longer front end. This would make it perfect for me. On the other hand it helps keeping this very big looking Blaster quite compact and practical.

4. Worker Hurricane

Until recently, the Nerf Stryfe stood here as a representative of the convertible Flywheeler. But Worker’s Hurricane was the perfect replacement for me. This blaster is small, compact, easy to mod and inexpensive. It fits in your pocket or a small holster and the available power sources for it let you just the performance you want.

3. CEDA

The Ceda is just a great toy. Due to the long picatinny rail on the blaster and the toolless and uncomplicated disassembly, it encourages you to experiment. This also creates a tacticool feeling. Dismantling for maintenance or upgrading, attaching various tactical gadgets, plus a decent performance with great potential – this Blaster has a whole lot to offer.
In addition, the Blaster has a very comfortable size, which can be easily adjusted with the adjustable shoulder support. But first and foremost: It’s a pump action blaster! Compatible with virtually all magazines from Nerf, Buzzbee and others, Jet Blaster’s CEDA is quite close to perfect.

2. Nerf Hammershot

Nerf’s Hammershot was and will always be the perfect side blaster for all occasions. Whether for larp, cosplay, officewars or competitions, the Hammershot is amazing: small, compact, it can be operated one handedly and is quiet and precise. Even out of the box it feels great and Blasterparts’ Full Metal Kit makes it just perfect, it’s everything a backup blaster should be.

1. Nerf Longshot

Nerf’s Longshot is my personal all-time favourite! As of now I own 20 of them, about half of them are modded already. The Longshot is an impressive blaster with its massive length. Its out of box performance isn’t that great to be hones though. This is mainly due to the fact the Blaster is now almost a decade old and has never received a factory upgrade, even though there were several new editions in different colors.
However, this is quickly forgotten when you realize that there is no Nerf Blaster with greater modding potential than the Longshot. Just by changing the spring you get a much better Blaster and with a few more modifications you’re bound to have the most beautiful, strongest and most precise blaster in your next game!
