Blasters for Kids

Find out which blasters are especially suitable for smaller children here. The best blasters for small hands!

Especially when older kids are already playing with dart blasters, the question comes up which blaster would be best for the younger ones. Most Nerf blasters are recommended for children over 8 years, but not all are suitable for small hands. One of the most recommended blasters for young children is by far the Nerf Elite Stockade. This Blaster has some advantages that make it convenient for children.

First of all: a fixed drum which is easy to load from the front and clearly indicates whether the Blaster is loaded or not. This makes handling easier and avoids frustration.

Secondly, the Blaster is powered by electricity. This means that children do not have to have the strength to prime the blaster on their own, but only need enough strength and coordination to hold the blaster and pull the trigger. Another unique feature of the stockade is a real on/off switch, which does not have to be pressed permanently. Most other newer dart blasters have a switch to spin up the flywheels, which must be held down in order to shoot. Most other newer blasters have a switch for the flywheels, which has to be held down while pulling the trigger. This is not the case with the Stockade. Once switched on, the Flywheels will run until switched off  again and only the trigger has to be pressed in order to fire.

Of course there are other electric blasters as well, but most of them, as already mentioned, are more challenging to operate. In addition, almost all electric blasters have magazines. The correct handling of magazines can be very complicated for younger children. As soon as this is no longer a problem, any electric blaster can be used.

Aside from the stockade there are some non-electric front loaders. An example is the Disruptor, which, like the Stockade, has a front loading drum. Thus it has the same advantages as the already described Stockade. The blaster is primed by pulling back a sled. Said sled features two holes through which a band can be threaded. This can help make it easier for small children to prime the blaster.

Finally, the Nerf Firestrike should be mentioned as a representative for many similarly constructed blaster models. This blaster is very easy to prime due to loop at the end of the pull rod. The only way to find out if a child can handle a blaster is to try it out. The principle to always put only one dart into the barrel, then fire it and load a new dart is very intuitive and easy enough for most small children to pick up very quickly.
