Blaster Mod of the Week 27

The community on Blasted.de is the German speaking dartblaster community! In this series we’ll present a new awesome mod from the community once a week, every week.

This Week’s Blaster of the Week

This week we’ll present a postapocalyptical CEDA mod for role playing. The paintjob is based on the original colouring, only the blue and red areas have been painted over to suit the intended military look. To achieve said look the pump grip was replaced with a 3D printed model, a longer barrel was mounted, the shoulder stock was replaced, the appropriate sights were mounted and a suitable magazine was equipped.

For the postapocalyptc look, various dirt, rust and wear effects were painted on top of the first layer of paint. The result is a very tactical and realistic looking Blaster, which fits well into the rough daily routine of the setting it’s creator was going for.

Modder to Modder

There are two classic wear effects that are easy pick up and give great results! First, the so-called dry brushing. The paint is applied to a brush and then almost completely brushed off before painting the Blaster. By brushing over the blaster’s edges and elevations they’re highlighted very subtle. Usually this technique is used with silver acrylic paint to imitate a slight shine of metal and creates the amazing look of a used and worn down object.

The second technique is the use of washes. Washes are highly diluted colours that can be used to emphasize edges and recesses. The washes are generously applied to the dried blaster and wiped off again after a short time. The remaining paint will settle in grooves and make the object look more sculptural. This technique is usually used with brown tones or black to imitate dirt. The wash settles where the object is hard to keep clean – this results in a very realistic distribution of dirt.
