Basics: How to Voltage Mod

But how do you install a Blasterparts Voltage-Mod and what do you have to watch out for? Learn everything you need to know here!

Blasterparts Voltage Mods are the easiest way to increase the performance of an electric blaster and are also suitable for beginners.

What you need for installation and operation:
1. an electric blaster
2. one tuning kit with Voltage Mod
3. a suitable charger
4. a screwdriver

Blasterparts Voltage Mod Tuning Kits are extremely easy to install.
Open battery compartment, insert charged batteries and dummies, close battery compartment, done.

So much for the instructions, now for the tips

Most electric blasters work the same way. Two flywheels are rotated by electric motors and the dart is pushed in between like a tennis ball cannon and accelerated by touching the flywheels.

The most simple version of this system is the Nerf Stryfe.

One switch starts the engines and the trigger pushes the dart between the flywheels. There is a whole series of blasters working exactly like this. All these blasters can be tuned using this system.

However, flyhweel blasters also have a weak point: A cheap electronic component designed to protect the electronics from overloading. Since this component is the cheapest mass-produced component, however, it often interprets voltage mods as overload and shuts the blaster down. You can usually tell by the fact the Blaster works for a short time, then switches off and after a certain period restarts briefly before it switches off again.

The easiest solution to this problem is to bypass said component. If you want to do it properly, you take out everything you do not need and solder the crucial components (motors, power source and switch) with new cables yourself. However, if this exceeds your capabilities, just find the component and twist it so the legs touch. Good job! You just bypassed this little bugger. Always remove the batteries before opening blasters to be safe.

In addition to the Stryfe, there are electric blasters which do not push the dart mechanically between the flywheels. They operate electrically and fully automatic. These blasters are more complex and complicated, but do have a similar component, which can be twisted to bypass it if necessary.

But there are also blaster with special functions like light, sound, fire modes or dart loaders. You should be very careful with these blasters and only use tuning kit explicitly suitable for these models. Too much power will destroy them. Some blasters with special functions require more modifications than just the Voltage Kit in order to avoid damage and destruction. We recommend visiting Blasted.de and researching suitable mosfet circuits.

How do Voltage Mods differ from one another?

All tuning kits with voltage mods consist of 3.7V Li-Ion batteries and dummies. The batteries deliver the increased voltage and the dummies simply plug the missing battery slots and pass on the current.

Each individual tuning kit is exactly designed for the respective blaster in terms of the number of batteries and dummies and, if necessary, also offers a suitable number of adapters. This way the AA batteries will fit in blasters which actually require larger batteries.

This should answer most of your questions! If you still have any questions or are looking for more tips and tricks, please visit our chat on Blasted.de!
