Blasterparts World Tour Part 4: New York, New York

The fourth part of the Blasterparts World Tour takes us across the pond to New York City in search of the latest and greatest blasters and parts. Welcome back to our travel log.

Containment Crew

Our arrival in New York was quite comfortable – thanks to our partner Containment Crew. The team not only picked us up from the airport and brought us to the hotel, but also arranged the obligatory city tour and we had a great dinner together.

Charles and Thomas, the team behind www.containmentcrew.com were our first partners in America and have been selling our Blasterparts products to the Blaster community in the United States for several years now. Thanks guys! 😉

But that wasn’t all and our suitcases were a little fuller on the return flight than on our way to the USA. From now on we will also offer two special products from our partners: The Tsunami Cage, the Cyclone Flywheels and the Kronos Tuning spring.

US Blaster Community

The New York Toy Fair is not all about toys – it is also an event for representatives of the press. And of course there are also all kinds of bloggers, YouTubers and streamers from the community.

The guys from Containment Crew not only welcomed us heartily – they also introduced us to some of the most famous faces and names of the US blaster scene. Surely, Lord Drac is the most famous name: On his YouTube channel you‘ ll constantly find new videos about blasters. When we met, Drac just came back from his meeting with Hasbro – he was at least as enthusiastic about the news as we were. We also got to meet Vlad, the Nerf Neko and Buffdaddynerf probably the most popular blogger of the scene. He is the author behind the internationally renowned blog www.blasterhub.com, on which he publishes test reports and news about dartblasters.

We also met FoamfromAbove at the fair. He is one of the old school Nerf bloggers and has been there for quite some time. This time he was on the road with the photographer behind the Instagram Account Nerfers101.

We’d like to thank you guys once again for the warm welcome and our amazing stay!

Everything’s bigger in America – except the Toyfair

The Jarvit Convention Center in Manhattan is the place to be for the US toy industry. Many companies from all over the world exhibit their products on three floors. But the focus of the fair is the North American market, so there were a few new things to discover:

Battle Bunkr

It’s a known problem – why isn’t there a simple way to build a playing field in your back yard or a large room for nerf wars and battles to have a nice battle with your friends? Battle Bunkr came up a number of inflatable covers in a pretty cool design. The company also set up a league for Nerf sports.

Prime Time Toys

A name that every Blaster fan in Europe knows – and it does not only invoke fond memories: Prime Time Toys models are hard to come by in Germany as of now. And that’s a bummer because they offer lots of cool items: A small Gatling, a Blaster with a huge drum, the Legendfire with an exchangeable drum and Ballistix Ops, a Nerf Rival compatible product line.

Some of the articles are already available now – a few more will follow later this year.

Zing

The name Zing may ring a bell with blaster enthuasiasts. The Australian brand is known for two things: bows and boomerangs. But this year an exciting novelty was presented: A foam throwing axe that adheres to smooth surfaces thanks to large suction knobs. Sounds weird – but is a lots of fun.

Spit Blaster & Marshmallow Blaster

We love darts, no question – but from time to time we risk look at what else you can shoot around with without the risk of any harm done. We got to try two well-known alternatives in New York:

The Spitblaster, the new product of the inventors of the paper shooters, shoots small balls of paper and spit (or water?). The balls are made in a mould and then loaded into plastic shells. After firing, these shells are ejected – pretty cool concept. Fun fact: The blaster’s shoulder stock is fully compatible with the Nerf attachment piece.

The marshmallow blaster is a concept that has been around for quite some time – it flings marshmallows of different sizes and the power of this thing is pretty impressive. Combined with edible ammunition – what more could we ask for?

Our trip to the USA would have been a pretty short one if we only stopped in New York, right? So we decided to fly over to Portland as well. What we found there is a story for our next and for the time being final episode.
