Blaster Mod of the Week #23

The community on Blasted.de is the German speaking dartblaster community! In this series we’ll present a new awesome mod from the community once a week, every week.

Optical modding is a huge and awesome part of our favourite hobby! There is an incredible range of different intentions, ideas and implementations out there. There are realistic looking props for the live role playing scene, replicas of film props, stylish sports accessoiries and simple individualizations to make blasters more recognizable. There are literally no limits.

We want to show what our awesome comunity can do and will start to show their work in this series – once a week, every week. We would love if this would enable you to find inspiration, tips and tricks or even new techniques für your own work here. Maybe your work will be presented here one day too!

Blaster of the Week

In order to avoid any fear of jumping in at the deep end, we’ll just start with a blaster I modded myself. This blaster is a Zombie Strike Doominator and this specific one was provided to me by Blasterparts some years ago, when it was still new, to present it at a Blasted.de community meeting in Kassel. Of course the question arose, who would be the lucky one to take the Blaster home at the end of the day. Since of course everybody wanted to get their hands on this new blaster I decided to give it back to Blasterparts. In order to do that properly, I painted it and took it with me to the RPC to hand it over personally.

Modder to Modder

The Blaster has been painted with acrylic spray paints. First the Blaster was primed with multicoloured blue, matching the Blasterparts logo and then treated with crackle lacquer for the tearing effect. I masked some areas off before applying the crackle varnish, in order to apply apply the logos of Blasterparts later with self-printed decals.

I like how the paintjob turned out and I am glad to know it still has its place in the Blasterpart’s office.

What Now?

We will continually post a Mod of the Week from here on and would love your support. Maybe you’d contibute a few sentences for our Modder to Modder section if we present your mod, make suggestions which mod should be next or discuss, ask and help oneanother with tips and tricks around our favourite hobby.
